TOUR PROGRAM
Day 1 – Arrival in Sweden & Journey to Smögen
Welcome to your Heritage Journey – upon arrival at Gothenburg Landvetter Airport, you pick up your rental car and begin your journey through he beautiful coastal landscape of Bohuslän – a region shaped by he sea, granite cliffs, and centuries of history.
Using our carefully designed Fly & Drive itinerary, you travel north to the charmiing fishing village of Smögen. After arrival, you check in to your hotel and have time to settle in and explore the surroundings.
In the evening, you meet for an introduction to Swedish genealogy. We explain how family research works in Sweden and present what we have already discovered about your ancestors – a meaningful and personal start to your journey.

Day 2 – Smögen Kayaking & Local History
Life in the archipelago – wake up to the sound of seabirds and the salty air of the west coast. On the dock, kayaks are ready for you, and together with an experienced guide you paddle out into the Smögen archipelago.
Explore the rugged coastlinge, sheltered coves, and small islands at a relaxed pace. You may spot seals resting on the rocks or discover a quiet sandy beach perfect for a swim.
In the afternoon, enjoy a walk among Smögen’s iconic wooden boathouses, followed by a visit to the local Smögen Museum, where the area’s fishing heritage and coastal life are brought to life.
End the day watching the sunset over the North Sea.

Day 3 – Marstrand & Carlsten Fortress
History and Dramatic Stories – today you drive south to the picturesque island town of Marstrand, one of Sweden’s most famous summer resorts with a rich mairime past. Visit the impressive Carlsten Fortress with a guide and learn about its dramatic history – prisoners and the legendary master thief Lasse-Maja, one of Sweden’s most famous historical figures.
In the afternoon, head out on a local fishing boat and experience traditional crab fishing, a hands-on and authentic Bohuslän activity.
In the late afternoon, return by car to Smögen for another relaxing evening by the sea.

Day 4 – Lysekil, Seal Safari & Havets Hus
The Sea – another beautiful day along the Bohuslän coast. Drive to Lysekil for a morning seal safari in the outer archipelago. Cruise through open waters and rocky islets to see seals resting and playing in their natural habitat.
After the safari, you have the opportunity to visit Havets Hus (The House of the Sea), an acclaimed aquarium showcasing marine life from Sweden’s west coast.
Later, return to Smögen for your final evening – perhaps with a refreshing swim in the sea, fresh seafood, and a peaceful coastal sunset.

Day 5 – Göteborg & Departure
In the Footsteps of the Emigrants. After breakfast and check-out, you begin your drive south to Göteborg, Sweden’s second-largest city, where you spend your final day before returning home.

The Customs House and Postgatan (formerly Sillgatan), key locations in Sweden’s emigration history
Haga District – for a classic Swedish fika and a walk among traditional wooden houses
In the afternoon or evening, you return the rental car and depart Sweden—bringing home lasting memories, a deeper understanding of your roots, and a strong personal connection to your Swedish heritage.
